there is something about grape harvest time that brings the mind firmly to rest in the classic french wine regions. and so with that in mind, and the fall harvest around the corner, we will begin our first foray into regional french wine dinners.

we begin with an exploration of the southern rhône valley. distinct in style from the northern rhône, the climate is more mediterranean, the mistral wind more pronounced and the wines are bigger, riper and richer. the reds are rich and earthy, and tend to be grenache based, but also feature syrah and mouvèdre. the whites are full and opulent and are often blends of viognier, rousanne and marsanne.

our food will take us in to classic french country cooking and we are looking forward to planning the pairings.
