vermouth is an aromatic fortified wine typically hailing from italy, spain & france. this underrated bar work horse forms the basis of many cocktails and comes in an increasingly diverse range of styles.

think of dry vermouths in the classic martini and the cardinale, sweet vermouths in negronis and manhattans. plus, as artisan vermouth has become more available, we explore the delicious sipping varieties, best served simply, over a rock.

veneto wine tasting and small plates

tuesday april 29th & wednesday april 30th

the veneto, cradled in north-east italy, extends all the way from the austrian border and the mountainous dolomites to the adriatic sea, crowned with the city of venice.

from a wine-growing perspective, it is the most prolific region in italy. it produces iconic proseccos, elegant soaves and weighty amarones. we will taste and learn about the indigenous grapes from this region including garganega, glera & the corvina.

the food of the veneto is varied, from the mountains to the sea. but the rich culinary heritage of venice is where we will focus our attention, with its passion for fried bar snacks (cichetti) and seafood.

join us for a guided wine tasting through the veneto, with matched small plates from the gia kitchen. we will tasting 5 wines, including classic examples of prosecco, soave, valpolicella & amarone.

limoncello making class

monday may 12th, 6.00-7.30pm

 

we are excited to share with you the craft of limoncello making. led by our bartender, brian madden, you will be led through the principles of limoncello before setting to making your own version to take home. we provide all the materials for the class, including lemons, high-proof alcohol, a mason jar for ageing and a glass bottle to decant your finished product in to.

we will be opening up the restaurant on a monday evening, when we are usually closed, to give this class full run of our space and ensure a wonderful evening of learning and creativity!

includes a welcome drink, snacks and a pour of one of our house made limoncellos.
